I saw this shirt lakers the other day and I really wanted it, but I didn’t want to pay that much money for it. So I thought, maybe I can make it myself. I mean, how hard can it be, right?

First, I went to the store and bought a plain white T-shirt. Just a regular, nothing fancy, one from the bargain bin. Then I needed to figure out the design. I searched online for some pictures of the Lakers’ logo and the player’s number I wanted. It took a while to find one that I could easily copy. I wasn’t going for perfect, just something that looked kinda like the real thing.
Next up, I got some fabric markers. I picked purple and gold ’cause, you know, Lakers colors. I practiced drawing the logo on a piece of paper a few times. It wasn’t pretty, but hey, it was a start. I also wrote the player’s name and number, trying to make it look like the font on the real jerseys. Let’s just say, it was a bit wobbly.
After that, I placed the T-shirt on a flat surface. I put a piece of cardboard inside so the markers wouldn’t bleed through to the back. I lightly sketched the design on the shirt with a pencil first. This was the scariest part. Once the marker goes on, there’s no turning back!
Start Coloring
I carefully started coloring in the logo with the fabric markers. My hand was shaking a little, not gonna lie. It took forever to fill in all the spaces, and I definitely went outside the lines a few times. But, I kept going. Then I wrote the player’s name and number, trying my best to keep my hand steady. It looked… okay. Not great, but okay.
- Bought a plain white T-shirt
- Found a picture of the Lakers’ logo and player’s number online
- Got purple and gold fabric markers
- Practiced drawing on paper
- Sketched the design on the T-shirt with a pencil
- Colored in the design with fabric markers
- Wrote the player’s name and number
Finally, I let the shirt dry for a whole day, just to be safe. I didn’t want all my hard work to smudge. The next day, I wore it to watch the game. Did it look like the real thing? Nope. Did it look like a kid’s art project? Maybe. But I made it, and that’s what counts. Plus, I saved a bunch of money. I’d say it’s a win!
