That Knee Pain Hit Me After 18 Holes
Just finished my golf round today when my right knee started screaming. Felt like someone hammered nails into it when I walked to the parking lot. Knew I had to fix this fast before it got worse.

My Immediate After-Round Fixes
First thing I did: sat in my car, cranked up the AC and propped my leg straight on the dashboard. Ripped open the ice pack from my cooler – the one I keep with my protein bars – and slapped it right on the knee. Held it there for 15 straight minutes while scrolling through my phone.
- Wiggled my toes the whole time to keep blood flowing
- Pushed my heel down hard against the floor mat to stretch that tendon
- Massaged above my kneecap with two fingers in circles
Home Remedies Kicked In
Got home and immediately drowned two ibuprofen tablets with my post-game beer. Filled the bathtub with cold water – only up to my thighs – and soaked for 20 minutes while watching game highlights on my phone.
After drying off, I grabbed my massage gun (the cheap one from Amazon). Set it on medium and went to town around my kneecap for exactly 5 minutes. Felt those deep vibrations working into the muscle.
Evening Mobility Work
Before bed, I laid on my living room carpet doing leg lifts. Just simple stuff: 3 sets of 10 raises keeping my leg dead straight. Finished by rolling my knee slowly in clockwise circles for 2 minutes each direction.
Slapped on that menthol gel that makes your skin tingle. The smell filled my whole bedroom but damn, it felt good.

The Morning Verdict
Woke up expecting that usual stiffness. But surprise! My knee actually felt… normal. Got out of bed without grabbing the nightstand. Still did my toe wiggles and heel pushes before breakfast though. Ain’t taking chances with golf season in full swing.
Gonna keep the ice pack in my bag and do those leg lifts nightly now. Knee pain ain’t stealing my golf joy no more.
