Okay, so I’ve been wanting to keep better track of my gaming, like, actually write down what I’m doing and when. Just for myself, you know?
I finally got around to starting this “gunnar game log” thing. It’s pretty simple, really. First, I picked a time to play. You know how it is, life gets in the way, got to schedule these things. I made a point to play games every Tuesday and Thursday evening. I don’t like to play games that late before sleep, it would be bad for me. So I decided to play from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Tuesday: 6 PM – 8 PM
-
Thursday: 6 PM – 8 PM
Then, during my playtime, I just jotted down what game I played and what I did. Nothing fancy, just some quick notes. Like, “Played some shooting game, got ten kills. That is not bad!” I also tried to write what I got. I want to see how many achievements or trophies I collected in these games. But it seems like I need to play more to get them.
The Simple Log Example
-
Game: Action Adventure
-
Time Played: 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
-
Notes: Finished chapter 3, unlocked the “Explorer” achievement. Pretty proud of that one.
-
Achievements: Explorer
I also started to keep track of how much time I actually spend on each game. Not down to the minute, but just a rough idea. I did this by simply writing down the time I started and ended my gaming sessions. This is just so I don’t accidentally spend my whole evening on one game, which has happened before…I want to play all games, you know?
I made an Excel sheet to record all these things, it was so easy. I don’t think I need to subscribe to any online service to do these. I have been doing this for a couple of weeks now, and it’s actually pretty cool to look back and see what I’ve been up to. Plus, it helps me stick to my schedule and not overdo it.
Maybe I’ll keep this up, maybe I won’t, but for now, it’s a fun little experiment. And who knows, maybe it’ll help me finally beat some of those games in my backlog!
