Okay, so I’ve been getting really into Haikyuu!! lately. It’s, like, the best sports anime ever. But when I started, I was a little confused about the watch order. There are so many seasons and OVAs, and I wanted to make sure I experienced everything in the right way. So, I did some digging and this is what I figured out.

First Step: The Beginning
I started with the obvious: Haikyuu!! Season 1. This is where it all begins, introducing Hinata, Kageyama, and the Karasuno High School volleyball team. It was 25 episodes of pure excitement, watching them grow and learn as a team. I was instantly hooked!.
Next Up: Keep the Momentum Going
After finishing Season 1, I jumped straight into Haikyuu!! Season 2. No breaks! This season continues the story, showing Karasuno’s continued efforts to improve, going to training camps, and facing off against even stronger opponents. Another 25 episodes, and the character development was amazing.
Time for some OVAs! (Or not?)
After that is where I got some mixed information.
- I watched Haikyuu!!: Lev Genzan!,This short OVA focuses on the arrival of Lev Haiba.
Season 3: The Big Showdown
Then came Haikyuu!! Season 3: Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy. This season is only 10 episodes, but it’s basically one HUGE, epic match. It was intense, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The animation during this match? Chef’s kiss.
More OVAs! (Getting there!)
- I found Haikyuu!!: Tokushuu! Haru-kou Volley ni Kaketa Seishun, these OVAs serve as recaps and add a bit of extra behind-the-scenes stuff, mostly covering content before season four.
Season 4 Time! (A New Look)
Season 4 is called Haikyuu!! To The Top. It starts with some major training arcs and introduces new challenges for the team.I learned that this season is split into two parts.

- So I watched the first 13 episodes, which are the first part of “To The Top.”
Almost There: Final OVAs
- After finishing first part of Season 4 I am watch the final set of OVAs Haikyuu!!: Riku vs. Kuu and Haikyuu!!: Ball no Michi, These are centered around the Tokyo Qualifiers.
Wrapping up Season 4.
- Then, I watched Haikyuu!! To The Top (Part 2) to see the resolution of the tournament.
And that’s it! That’s the full Haikyuu!! watch order that I followed. Now, I’m all caught up and eagerly waiting for the movies to be available in my area. If you’re starting Haikyuu!!, I hope this helps! It’s an amazing journey, and you won’t regret it.
