My Helldivers 2 Journey Across Platforms
Alright, so I jumped into Helldivers 2 pretty much right when it launched. Got it on my PlayStation 5 first, you know? Been having a blast, liberating planets, unlocking all that cool gear, leveling up my Super Destroyer. It felt good, making progress, getting those tough stratagems. Felt like I was really contributing to the war effort!
Then, a few weeks later, some of my buddies decided to grab it on PC. They were all coordinating on Steam, and I didn’t want to miss out on playing with the full squad. So, I figured, why not? I’ll just buy it again on PC. Seemed simple enough. I thought, you know, maybe I just link my PlayStation account or something and everything carries over.
So I bought it on Steam. Installed it, booted it up all excited. Ready to join my friends’ lobby and show off all the stuff I’d unlocked. I logged in, went through the initial bits, and then… wait a second. I looked at my character. Level 1. Basic armor. No stratagems unlocked except the starting ones. My Super Credits? Gone. My medals? Zero.
I was confused. Like, really confused. Did I do something wrong? Did I miss a step linking accounts? I spent a good 15 minutes poking around the menus, looking for some ‘link account’ or ‘sync progress’ option. Found absolutely nothing. It felt like I was starting completely fresh, which wasn’t what I expected at all.
So, I did what anyone does. I stopped messing with the game menus and started searching online. Typed in stuff like “Helldivers 2 progress transfer PS5 PC” and similar things. Took just a few seconds to find out the deal.

- Read a couple of quick articles.
- Saw lots of other people asking the same thing.
Turns out, there is no cross-progression right now. What you unlock on PlayStation stays on PlayStation. What you earn on PC stays on PC. They’re like two separate universes, basically. Your soldier, your unlocks, your currency – none of it talks between the two platforms.
Honestly, it was a bit of a letdown. I mean, I get maybe why it’s complicated, but man, having to unlock everything all over again? It feels like a chore, especially when I already put in the time on the PS5. I still play on PC with my friends, but I really wish my progress could just sync up. It would make switching between platforms so much smoother. For now, I guess I’m just managing two different Helldivers, fighting the good fight on two separate fronts. Hopefully, maybe someday they’ll figure out how to link it all up.
