Hitting Up Sherwood Golf
So, the other day, I just got this urge, you know? Wanted to swing a golf club. Haven’t played in a bit, felt kinda rusty. Remembered hearing about Sherwood Golf over in Schererville, Indiana. Never been, but figured, why not? Seemed like a decent place to just knock some balls around without much fuss.

Dug out my old clubs from the garage. Man, they were dusty. Threw ’em in the back of the car. Didn’t even check the weather, just kinda went for it. Hoped it wouldn’t rain.
The drive over wasn’t bad at all. Found the place pretty easy, right there off the main road. Pulled into the lot. Looked like your typical local golf spot, nothing too flashy, which is fine by me. Just wanted a relaxed time.
Getting Started
Walked into what I guess was the pro shop or clubhouse. Pretty simple setup. Guy behind the counter seemed alright. Wasn’t overly chatty, but got me sorted out quick. Decided just to hit the driving range first, maybe play nine holes later if I felt like it. Grabbed a medium bucket of balls. Price seemed fair enough.
Took my bucket and found a spot on the range. They had mats, which, you know, aren’t my favorite, but whatever. It’s practice. There were a few other folks out there, mostly keeping to themselves. Looked like regulars just getting their swings in.
Swinging Away
Started hitting. Felt good to just swing, even if the first few shots were kinda ugly. Took a while to get loose. The balls were standard range balls, nothing special. The mats were a bit worn in spots, but usable. Focused on just making contact, getting some rhythm back.

- Hit my irons for a bit.
- Tried the driver, sprayed a few left and right. Classic.
- Worked on some wedge shots too.
It wasn’t Augusta or anything, but it did the trick. Just a straightforward place to hit golf balls. No pressure, no fancy stuff. Spent maybe an hour out there just working through the bucket. Nobody bothered me, just did my thing.
Final Thoughts
Finished the bucket and decided against playing the course this time. Felt like I got what I came for – just loosening up the swing. Packed up my clubs. Walked back past the clubhouse, gave the guy a nod.
Overall? Yeah, it was alright. Sherwood Golf is just a solid, no-frills place. If you’re looking for a fancy country club experience, this ain’t it. But if you just want to hit some balls, practice a bit, or maybe play a quick, casual round without breaking the bank, it seems like a decent option over in Schererville. Did exactly what I needed it to do that day. Might go back when I feel like actually playing nine or eighteen.
