Alright, so I decided to follow the Mets and Cubs game today. Been hearing a bit about both teams lately, figured it might be a decent matchup to watch unfold.
Getting Started
First thing, had to figure out where it was even playing. Flipped through the usual sports channels, took a minute but found it. Got myself settled on the couch, you know, the usual routine. Grabbed a drink, maybe some chips, didn’t want to get up mid-inning.
Watching the Game Flow
So, the game started off kinda slow, felt like both pitchers were really dialing it in early. Not a lot of action right out of the gate. You sit there, watching pitch after pitch, just waiting for something to crack.
Key Moments (For Me Anyway)
- There was this one play, I think maybe around the 4th inning? Mets had a runner on, looked like a sure double play ball, but the throw was just a bit off. Kept the inning alive. Always find those little moments interesting, how one small thing changes the flow.
- Later on, the Cubs managed to string a few hits together. You could kinda feel the momentum shift a little bit. It’s funny how you can sense that even just watching on TV.
- The Mets’ bullpen came in… always hold your breath a bit then, right? See how they handle the pressure.
The Middle Innings Drag
Honestly, around the 6th or 7th, things dragged a bit. Lots of pitching changes, mound visits. Had to get up, stretch my legs. Came back, score hadn’t changed much. Sometimes baseball’s like that, periods of action and then these lulls.
Wrapping It Up
The last couple of innings got a bit more tense. Game was still reasonably close. You start paying more attention to every pitch, every swing. The Mets tried to put something together late, had a couple of guys on base which made it exciting for a moment. Cubs defense held tight though.
In the end, the Cubs managed to close it out. Wasn’t a blowout, wasn’t a nail-biter down to the very last strike, but a solid game overall. You watch, you see how it plays out, and then you move on. Just another day following the season, really. Glad I took the time to watch, though. Better than just reading the box score later.
