Okay, so I got this question stuck in my head today: “How many Le Mans has Ford won?” You know, that big endurance race in France. I’m a bit of a Ford guy, so I figured I should probably know the answer.

I started digging around online. First, I just did a quick search for “Ford Le Mans wins.” A bunch of stuff popped up, some about cars, some about the race itself, even some video clips. It was a bit of a mess to sift through.
What I Found
Here is what I’ve found after spending a few hours of digging:
- 1966: Apparently, Ford had this big rivalry with Ferrari back in the day. It was a whole thing. They built this car called the GT40 specifically to beat Ferrari at Le Mans. And guess what? They did! In 1966, they not only won, but they took the top three spots. That’s a pretty strong statement.
- 1967: They came back the next year and won again with the GT40. Back-to-back wins. It seemed like Ford was unstoppable.
- 1968 and 1969: You wouldn’t believe it, but they won two more times in a row! That’s four in a row. They really showed Ferrari who was boss during those years.
So, after all that digging, it turns out Ford won Le Mans four times in a row, from 1966 to 1969. All those wins were with the legendary GT40. I also found out that Ferrari was basically crushed during those years and didn’t win again until, like, last year or something. Pretty crazy, right? It’s wild to think about how dominant Ford was back then. Now I’ve got a great conversation starter for the next time I’m hanging out with my car buddies.
Man, I spent way too much time on this today, but it was kind of fun. It’s like being a detective, but for car racing history. I’m thinking about doing this for other car brands or races. Maybe I’ll look into Porsche or something next. They have a ton of Le Mans wins too, I think.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure for today. Hope you found it as interesting as I did!
