I saw skins I bought for champions I don’t even play anymore, icons, those little emotes. It’s just crazy to see all these things that I forgot about.
I decided to open up a good old spreadsheet to start keeping track. I know, super nerdy, but I needed to see the damage. One by one, I started copying each transaction amount into the spreadsheet, I couldn’t use binary format for the file. It took forever, no joke. There were just so many of them. I had to get a budget together for my spendings too. Eventually, I had a full list, a list that stared back at me, judging my life choices.
Finally, I hit that “sum” button, and there it was, the grand total. Drum roll, please… It was way more than I ever thought I’d spent. It was enough to buy a few full-priced AAA games. I felt a mix of emotions, a bit of shame, some regret, but also, a strange sense of, well, it is what it is. It’s a part of my gaming history, I guess.
So, what’s the lesson here? Keep track of your spending, even on “free” games. Those small purchases add up fast. Would I take it back? Honestly, probably not. I’ve had a ton of fun in League, made some good memories. But will I be more careful about spending in the future? Definitely. Maybe it is time to learn about CodePlex.
