Fixing Up My Trusty Bow

Alright, so my favorite bow in Minecraft was looking pretty rough today. You know, the durability bar was almost gone, deep in the red. Can’t have that happening when a creeper decides to say hello. I needed to get it fixed, pronto.

First thing I thought of was the good ol’ anvil. I remembered you could repair stuff on that. Dragged my anvil out, plopped it down. Okay, now what? I grabbed my beat-up bow and put it in the first slot. Then I needed something for the second slot. I figured maybe just another bow would do the trick. I didn’t have another one just lying around that was enchanted, just a plain one I crafted earlier.

So, I went ahead and crafted a basic bow – needed three sticks and three strings. Had plenty of sticks, had to hunt down a couple of spiders for the string, but got it done pretty quick. Took that new bow back to the anvil.

Put my damaged, enchanted bow in the first slot. Put the brand new, plain bow in the second slot. Boom! The anvil showed me the repaired bow in the output slot. Looked good as new, well, almost. It cost some experience points, though. Saw the little green number telling me the price. Made sure I had enough levels – thankfully I did from some mob grinding last night.

Clicked the output slot, paid the experience, and bam! My enchanted bow was back in business, durability full, enchantments still there. That’s the key thing with the anvil – it keeps your enchantments, which is exactly what I wanted for this bow.

I also remembered you can just mash two bows together in the crafting grid. I tried that earlier with some junk bows I had. Just put two damaged ones side-by-side in the crafting interface. It spat out a repaired bow, yeah, but it wiped any enchantments clean off. So, that’s okay for basic bows you don’t care about, saves experience. But for my good one? Definitely the anvil method was the way to go.

So yeah, that was my little repair session today. Bow’s fixed, ready for more skeleton sniping. Pretty simple, really, once you know how it works. Anvil for keeping goodies, crafting grid for cheap fixes.
