Okay, so I’ve always been a huge fan of dirt bikes. The thrill of riding, the jumps, the mud – it’s all awesome. But I’d never tried riding in the snow before. I mean, it sounds kinda crazy, right? But I saw some videos online and thought, “I gotta try this!”

Getting Ready
First things first, I needed to make sure my bike was ready for the snow. I have a trusty old dirt bike.
I changed the oil and made sure it was good for colder temperatures. I also checked the tire pressure, I lowered them a bit to get some extra grip in the snow.
The First Ride
Man, the first time I took the bike out in the snow, it was wild! I started slow, just getting a feel for how the bike handled. It’s way different than riding on dirt or mud. The bike slides around a lot more, and you have to be really careful with the throttle.
I practiced in a big open field, I figure out how to control during the slides.
Once I got the hang of it, it was incredible! I was powersliding around corners, kicking up snow, it was so much fun.

Learning the Ropes
- Leaning is key: You gotta lean into the turns way more than you would on dirt. It feels weird at first, but it’s the only way to keep the bike from washing out.
- Smooth throttle: You can’t just crank the throttle open like you can on dirt. You need to be really smooth and gradual, otherwise the rear tire will just spin and you’ll go nowhere.
- Foot placement: I found that keeping my feet out a little wider than usual helped with balance.
Making it Awesome
After a few practice sessions, I started getting more confident. I found some small hills to climb, and even tried a few little jumps. You don’t get as much air as you do on dirt, but it’s still a blast. And let me tell you, wiping out in the snow is way softer than wiping out on dirt!
Riding dirt bikes in the snow is definitely a challenge, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. It’s a whole new way to experience the sport, and it’s something I’d recommend to any dirt bike enthusiast. Just make sure you’re prepared, take it slow at first, and have fun!
