I’ve been meaning to upgrade my golf wardrobe lately, especially my shorts. So, I started doing some digging around on what makes for good golf shorts.

First, I checked out some articles online. They all say pretty much the same thing – comfort is key. I mean, who wants to be fidgeting with their shorts when they’re trying to line up a putt? No one, that’s who. So, the fabric needs to be breathable and let you move around easily. Think about all that bending and twisting you do during a round of golf.
My Research
- Reading Reviews: I spent hours reading reviews. Some folks were really into the moisture-wicking stuff, which makes sense. Keeps you dry, even when you’re sweating buckets under the sun.
- Trying Them On: Then, I went to a few stores to actually try some shorts on. I walked around, did some practice swings, and even a few squats just to see how they felt. It’s funny because I must have looked like a crazy person, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.
- Considering the Look: Of course, they’ve got to look good too. I’m not trying to win any fashion awards, but I don’t want to look like a total goofball either. I saw some shorts with crazy patterns that would have made me look like a clown. The colors were just too much. I ended up picking some classic colors like navy, khaki, and gray. Can’t go wrong with those, right?
- Checking the Pockets: Pockets are important too. You need somewhere to stash your tees, ball markers, and maybe even your phone if you’re like me and always end up losing the scorecard. I also checked to make sure the pockets were deep enough that things wouldn’t just fall out every time I bent over.
The Result
After all that, I finally settled on a few pairs that I really liked. They felt great, looked decent, and had enough pocket space. I tested them out on the course last weekend, and they were perfect. I even managed to shave a few strokes off my game, though that might have just been a lucky day. Or maybe the shorts have magic powers, ha! I definitely felt more comfortable and focused. So, if you’re looking to up your golf game, don’t underestimate the power of a good pair of shorts. You might be surprised at the difference it makes!
