hugo ramos Latest News & Updates (Everything You Need)

Okay, so today I messed around with something called “Hugo Ramos.” I’d heard about it before, but never actually tried it. Basically, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Getting Started

First things first, I needed to, you know, actually get it. It wasn’t like downloading an app or anything. It was more like… grabbing some files. I went to some website, found the “download” area, and picked the right version for my computer. I’m running Windows, so that was pretty straightforward.

After it downloaded, I unzipped the file. Inside was this “hugo” thing, which I guessed was the main program.

Figuring It Out

Now, I had no clue how to use it. So, I just started poking around. I double-clicked that “hugo” file, and a black window flashed for a second and then disappeared. Okay… that didn’t seem right.

Then, I remembered something about needing to use the “command prompt.” I’ve used that before for some other stuff, so I opened it up.

I navigated to the folder where I unzipped Hugo. I’m pretty sure I typed something like “cd Downloadshugo_folder” (or whatever the folder was called). The command prompt showed I was in the right place.

Making a “Site”

I think I read somewhere that Hugo is for making websites. So, I typed “hugo new site my-test-site” into the command prompt. It whirred for a second, and then… boom! A new folder called “my-test-site” appeared. Cool!

I went inside that folder. It had a bunch of other folders and files already in it. Seemed like Hugo set up some basic stuff for me.

Adding Some Stuff

I wanted to actually, like, see something. So, I created a new file inside the “content” folder. I think I called it “*”. The “.md” part is important, I think it means “Markdown,” which is just a way to write text with some simple formatting.

I opened “*” with a text editor (just Notepad) and wrote some random stuff. Like, “Hello, this is my first post!” and some other nonsense.

The Moment of Truth

Back in the command prompt, I went into my “my-test-site” folder (using “cd my-test-site”). Then, I typed “hugo server”. It spit out a bunch of text, and at the end, it said something like “Web Server is available at…”. It had some weird address.

I copied that address into my web browser, and… there it was! My super basic website, with my “Hello, this is my first post!” text. It was ugly, but it worked!

Wrapping Up

So, that’s basically what I did with Hugo Ramos today. I didn’t do anything fancy, just got it running and made a super simple “site.” I’m sure there’s a ton more to learn, but it was kind of cool to see it actually work. It definitely needs more to make the presentation look less basic. I guess that would be the next step if I wanted to keep doing this.
