Okay, so I’ve been wanting to play “Red Dead Redemption 2” with my friends for a while now. The problem is, we all have different gaming setups. I’m on PC, my best friend uses an Xbox Series X, and my other buddy is a die-hard PlayStation fan. We were really hoping that “Red Dead 2” would let us play together, you know, like some other games do these days.

First thing I did was to start digging around online to see if “Red Dead Redemption 2” supports cross-platform play. I mean, it’s 2023, and it feels like tons of games are letting players connect regardless of their system. I checked out some gaming forums, a few articles, and even the official Rockstar website. Turns out, “Red Dead Redemption 2” does not support any kind of cross-platform play.
I found out that “Red Dead Redemption 2” players are totally locked to their own platforms. So, if you’re on PC, you can only play with other PC players. Same goes for Xbox and PlayStation folks. There’s no way to team up or go head-to-head if you’re not on the same type of console or system. We were pretty bummed when we heard this because we were really looking forward to exploring the Wild West together.
What I Learned
- No Cross-Platform Play: “Red Dead Redemption 2” doesn’t let you play with friends on different platforms.
- Stuck in Your Own World: If you start playing on, say, an Xbox, you’re only playing with other Xbox users.
- Separate Online Experiences: Each platform has its own version of Red Dead Online, so there’s no mixing and matching.
- Rockstar’s Focus: It also seems like Rockstar isn’t really looking into adding cross-platform play anytime soon. They’re not even developing “Red Dead Online” anymore.
- Gameplay Differences: From what I read, the gameplay feels a bit different between RDR1 and RDR2. Some folks say RDR1 is more simple, while RDR2 has more complex interactions and stuff.
So, yeah, that’s the deal with “Red Dead Redemption 2” and cross-platform play. It’s a no-go, which is a real shame. I guess my friends and I will have to find another game that lets us all play together, or maybe I’ll just have to get an Xbox or a PlayStation, but that’s a whole different story!
