Is the 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636 Worth Buying?

Hey folks, so I’ve been messing around with this 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636 lately, and I thought I’d share my experience. This bike, man, it’s something else.

First off, I got this bike because I heard it was one of the last 600cc bikes with four cylinders. Most other brands, they moved to two cylinders ’cause it was cheaper, I guess. Plus, from what I gather, bikes around this size are just perfect. Big enough that you’re not gonna outgrow it in a month, but not so crazy that you’re gonna scare yourself silly.

So, I started looking around, and yeah, I was considering other bikes too, not just this one. I was looking at some newer models like 2007 models. But the 2006, the 636, people were asking for more money for them! I was wondering, is it really worth paying the same or more for an older bike?

Then, I started to see what is the difference between zx6r and zx6r – 636, and I realized that I don’t even have A2 license in Germany! I know, I know, rookie mistake.

  • I started digging into forums and stuff. Found a bunch of people talking about their 06 ZX-6Rs.
  • Most of them had good things to say. No major issues, which was a relief.

I also tried to find some information about buying a J.D. Power Motorcycle, or something similar, but no luck. Ended up just diving in and getting the 636.

Let me tell you, this thing moves. I’m still getting used to it, to be honest. It’s a lot of bike. But it’s fun, really fun. It is totally worth it to get those 636. I’ve been taking it easy, just cruising around, getting a feel for it.

Getting Used to the Ride

So, after I got the bike, the first thing I did was just ride it around my neighborhood. I wanted to get a feel for how it handles, you know? It’s way different from anything I’ve ridden before. The power is always there, right when you need it. And the sound, oh man, it’s awesome.

Maintenance and Mods

  • First thing, I checked the oil. It was a bit low, so I topped it off.
  • Tires looked good, but I’m thinking of swapping them out for something stickier.
  • I also adjusted the chain a bit, it was a little loose.

As for mods, I haven’t done much yet. I did put on a new exhaust, though. It sounds even better now, if you can believe it. I’m thinking about getting a power commander too, but that’s down the road.

Riding Adventures

I’ve taken it on a few longer rides now. Went out to some twisty roads near where I live. The bike handles like a dream. It just leans into the corners, and it’s so smooth. I’m still not pushing it too hard, but I can tell this bike has a lot more to give.

Final Thoughts

So far, I’m loving this bike. It’s everything I hoped it would be. It’s fast, it handles great, and it just looks cool. If you’re thinking about getting one, I’d say go for it. Just be ready for a lot of bike. It’s not for beginners, that’s for sure. But if you’ve got some experience, and you’re looking for something that’s gonna put a smile on your face every time you ride it, this is it.

Anyway, that’s my experience with the 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636 so far. I’ll probably post some updates as I ride it more and do some more work on it. Stay tuned!
