John Ellis Golf Instruction: Beginner-Friendly Tips for Success.

Okay, so today I decided to get back on the green and mess around with my golf swing. I’ve been watching a lot of John Ellis Golf videos lately, and I wanted to try out some of the stuff he talks about.

John Ellis Golf Instruction: Beginner-Friendly Tips for Success.

Getting Started

First things first, I grabbed my clubs and headed to the driving range. I wasn’t planning on playing a full round, just wanted to work on my technique. I started by warming up with some easy swings, just getting a feel for the club and the ball. You know, the usual stuff.

Then, I started focusing on what John Ellis emphasizes a lot: the setup. Making sure my posture was good, feet positioned right, grip was solid but not too tight. It felt a little awkward at first, changing things up from my usual routine, but I stuck with it.

Working Through It

  • I practiced my takeaway, trying to keep the club low to the ground for the first few feet, like Ellis suggests. That was tough! My natural instinct is to lift it up pretty quickly.
  • Then, I focused on the downswing, trying to get that “lag” he talks about. I’m still not sure I’m doing it right, but I definitely felt a difference when I got it even remotely close. More power, that’s for sure.
  • I spent some time just hitting balls, trying to incorporate these little changes. Some shots were good, some were… well, let’s just say they weren’t pretty.

Results (So Far)

Honestly, it’s a work in progress. I didn’t magically transform into a pro golfer today. But I did feel like I was making some connections, understanding the mechanics a bit better. I definitely hit a few shots that felt way better than usual, more solid, more distance. And that’s enough to keep me going!

I’m going to keep practicing these techniques, and maybe watch some more of those videos. It’s not going to happen overnight, but I’m feeling pretty good about the direction I’m heading. Hopefully, next time I hit the course, I’ll see some real improvement.
