How I started tracking NBA players with KJ Free Demo
Got curious about this KJ basketball stat tool after seeing Reddit comments last Tuesday. Figured why not try their free version? Woke up Wednesday morning, grabbed my coffee, and went straight to their homepage.
First thing that surprised me – didn’t even need to register! Just clicked “Start Demo” and boom, live Lakers vs Nuggets game popped up instantly. Saw LeBron chasing some record that night, so I typed “James” into the player search box.
Screen split into three parts: live scoreboard on top, James’ career stats on left, real-time movements on this court graphic at bottom. Started simple – just tracked points and assists. Every time he scored, the numbers jumped before the TV broadcast showed it.
The cool stuff I discovered:
- Saw exactly where his shots came from with little court dots
- Turnovers flashed red – oof he had 4 by halftime
- Fourth quarter crunch time stats showed separately
- Could toggle between regular and playoff mode
Nearly spilled coffee when I tried the “heat map” button. Suddenly showed all of LeBron’s activity areas lighting up bright orange near the paint. Guy basically lived in that zone all game.
Hiccups? For sure. Got overwhelmed when I clicked “Advanced Filters” – like twenty options exploded everywhere. Accidentally turned on “turnover probability” and couldn’t figure why every player had scary red percentages. Took me three minutes to find the reset button.
Kept it running during my laundry break. Came back to see fourth quarter highlights auto-generated. Little clips of key plays with stat overlays. Don’t ask how they do it – tech magic I guess.
By game’s end, just hit “Export CSV” and got all the numbers in spreadsheet form. Whole process felt surprisingly… human? Like the designers knew regular people would use this.
Final verdict? For free? Absolute win. Will try tracking Jokic next weekend. Wonder if it’ll show how he passes before guys even cut… That man sees future.
