Alright, so I was playing some Fortnite the other day. You know how it is sometimes, you just get tired of the same old sweaty drop spots. Everyone rushing, building like crazy. I just wasn’t in the mood for that, to be honest. Needed a bit of a breather, yeah?

So, I’m on the bus, and I’m thinking, “Where can I go that’s not gonna be a total madhouse?” Decided to aim for the coast, like way out on the fringes. Gliding down, just looking around, and I spot these tall rock things. Columns, I guess you’d call ’em. Sticking out along the beach and in the water. Never really bothered with ’em before, always seemed like a whole lotta nothing out there.
Checking Out These Coastal Columns
Landed not too far off. Found a grey pistol – brilliant, just what you need to win, right? – and headed over. They were bigger up close, these columns. Some proper solid rock. Actually looked kinda neat, I’ll give ’em that. Thought maybe I could find a decent chest or at least a spot to chill for a minute without someone trying to edit-pump me in the face.
Started with the ones on the dry land. Hopped up one, which wasn’t as easy as it looked. Had to mantle and scramble a bit. Got a decent view, I suppose. Saw a chest, cracked it open – standard stuff, nothing to write home about. Still better than getting beamed in the first 30 seconds, though.
Getting My Feet Wet
Then I figured, why not check the ones in the water? Waded out. This is where it got a bit more interesting, or annoying, depending on how you look at it. Slippery, trying to jump between ’em. You know, the kind of place you’d get stuck if the storm was breathing down your neck. Classic Fortnite, making simple things tricky.
- Climbed a few, mostly just for the heck of it.
- Found another chest, slightly better this time. Still no gold pump, surprise surprise.
- Tried to build a little platform between two of them. It worked, kinda. The rocks make for weird angles, not like your clean pre-fab walls.
- Scoped around, made sure I wasn’t about to get third-partied by some shark.
And then, of course, just as I’m thinking it’s all quiet, I hear ’em. Footsteps. Someone else had the same bright idea to visit this scenic, out-of-the-way spot. Great. Crouched down, trying to figure out where this guy was. Spotted him on another column, probably thinking he was being all stealthy too.

We had this weird little dance around the columns. Not your typical build fight, more like hide-and-seek with guns. Lots of peeking, trying to get a shot off without falling into the drink. It was actually kinda fun, in a stupid way. Used the rocks for cover. I think I only won because I’d already mucked about there for a bit and knew the layout slightly better. Or maybe he was just worse than me, who knows?
Anyway, storm started rolling in, so I had to leg it. Those coastal columns, though. They’re not a game-changer, not gonna be the next Tilted Towers. But for a change of pace, to just mess around and see something different? Yeah, they’re alright. Better than stressing over some Mythic weapon I’ll never get my hands on anyway. Just a spot, you know? Another one of those places Epic throws in.
