Okay, so I’ve been wanting to give my Mini Cooper a fresh look for a while. I finally decided to go for it and do a black and red theme. It’s a bold choice, but I figured, why not?

First, I cleaned the car, like, REALLY cleaned it. I mean, I got into every little crack and crevice. I used a good car wash soap and made sure to get all the dirt and grime off. Then I dried it off completely with a microfiber towel.
Next up, the fun part! I started with the black. I decided to go with a matte black vinyl wrap for the main body. It’s tough, and it should last a while. This was, I’m not gonna lie, a bit tricky. I watched a ton of YouTube videos before attempting it. It took some time, and a lot of patience, but I slowly worked my way around the car, panel by panel, using a heat gun and a squeegee to get the vinyl to lay flat and smooth. The curves were definitely the hardest part.
- Washing the car.
- Applying the black matte vinyl wrap.
Once the black wrap was done, it was time for the red accents. I opted for a glossy red vinyl for these, to make them really pop. I wanted to keep it simple, so I added red stripes along the sides, and I also wrapped the side mirrors in red. Also I put red pin stripes along some of the sharp body edges, made a big difference.
- Adding the red accents.
The Finishing Touches
After the wrapping, the car had been looking amazing! I was pretty proud of myself, I’m not gonna lie, there were a few tiny bubbles in the vinyl, but you really have to look close to see them. I may go back and fix * I put some new black rims to make the car looks much more aggressive and * red calipers really stood out against the black wheels.
Overall, I’m super happy with how it turned out! It’s definitely a head-turner. And, the best part? It was way cheaper than getting a professional paint job. Plus, if I ever get tired of it, I can just peel the vinyl off.
