Alright, so yesterday I was all hyped to jump into some MLB The Show 24. I mean, I’d been looking forward to this all week. I fired up the PS5, got the game loaded, and BAM! Nothing.
“MLB The Show Servers Down” staring me right in the face. Ugh.
My first thought? “No way.” I figured it was just a fluke, maybe my internet was acting up. So, I did the usual dance:
- Power cycled the PS5.
- Restarted my router.
- Checked my internet speed (all good).
Still nothing. The servers were definitely down. Now, the real fun began – troubleshooting.
First thing I did was hit up good ol’ Google. Searched for “MLB The Show 24 server status.” Found a bunch of other people complaining on Twitter (or X, whatever it’s called now). Confirmed, it wasn’t just me.
Next, I checked the official MLB The Show forums. Usually, the devs post updates there if something’s seriously wrong. Bingo! They acknowledged the server issues and said they were working on it. At least they knew about it.
Okay, so I couldn’t actually play the game. But I wasn’t about to just sit around doing nothing. Time for some digging:
I dove into some older forum threads about previous server outages. Found a few tips and tricks people had used in the past, like:
- Trying a different DNS server.
- Clearing the game’s cache.
Figured I’d give ’em a shot. Changing the DNS server was easy enough. Switched to Google’s public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). No dice.
Clearing the cache was a bit trickier. Had to go into the PS5’s system settings, find the game data, and delete the temporary files. Still no luck.
At this point, I knew it was a waiting game. The problem was on their end, not mine. So, I did what any reasonable gamer would do – I started watching YouTube videos of other people playing MLB The Show. Living vicariously through them, I guess.
Kept checking the server status every hour or so. Finally, around 10 PM, the forums lit up – servers were back online! Jumped back on, played a few innings, and all was right with the world again.
Lessons learned?
- Always check the official forums or social media for server status updates.
- Don’t panic – server outages happen.
- Have a backup plan for entertainment (YouTube, other games, etc.).
And most importantly, be patient. They’ll usually get it fixed eventually. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a World Series to win!
