Okay, so you know how sometimes you just gotta tinker with stuff? That’s what happened to me yesterday. The title? Yeah, it’s kinda goofy: “my spoon is too big”. Let me break it down.

It all started with this stupidly large spoon I got from… I dunno, some random kitchenware store. Thing’s massive! Like, comically big. I was making some soup, and I swear, trying to stir with that thing felt like wrestling an alligator. It was just unwieldy and awkward. So, naturally, my brain went, “I can fix this.”
First thing I did was grab my trusty toolbox. I figured, “Alright, gotta shorten this bad boy.” Looked at it for a while, thinking about the best approach. Sawing it was an option, but the cut would be rough, and I’d probably mess up the balance. Then I remembered I had this metal file thingy lying around. Bingo!
So, I clamped the spoon in my vise – yeah, I got a vise, don’t judge – and started filing away. Slowly but surely, bit by bit, metal dust flying everywhere. It took freakin’ ages, man. My arm was killing me, and the sound was like nails on a chalkboard. My cat kept giving me this look like I was personally insulting her ancestors.
After what felt like a solid hour of filing, I finally had the spoon down to a more reasonable size. But it was all rough and jagged. Time for phase two: smoothing things out. I switched to a finer file, and then some sandpaper. More filing, more sanding. My fingers were raw, and I was covered in metal flakes. Fun times!
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the spoon was actually looking pretty good! Smoothed out, no sharp edges. But the metal was all dull and scratched. Couldn’t leave it like that. So, I grabbed some metal polish and went to town. Buffed and buffed until it was gleaming. Almost blinded myself a couple of times.

The result? A perfectly sized, custom-modified spoon. It’s still got that cool, slightly oversized feel, but now it’s actually usable. And you know what? Stirring soup with it this morning felt amazing! Total success!
Was it worth the time and effort? Probably not. I could’ve just bought a smaller spoon. But hey, where’s the fun in that? Now I have a spoon with a story. A spoon I made with my own two hands. Plus, I learned a valuable lesson: sometimes, the simplest solution is the best one. But sometimes, it’s way more fun to make things harder on yourself. You know?
Anyway, that’s my spoon story. Hope you enjoyed it! Now I’m gonna go make some more soup. With my awesome, custom spoon!
