Today, I wanted to mess around with finding the value of those side-by-side UTVs, you know, those off-road vehicles. I’ve been seeing them more and more, and I got curious about how much they’re actually worth.
So, first thing I did was hit up the NADA Guides website. I heard they’re pretty much the go-to for this kind of stuff. I mean, they’re like the leading authority on UTV, ATV, and side-by-side values, or at least that is what folks said.
Once I got to their site, it was pretty straightforward. They have this valuation calculator where you can plug in all the details of the vehicle. I typed in some information for a few different models I found online, just to get a feel for it.
- Filled in the make, like Polaris, Can-Am, you know, the usual suspects.
- Put in the model year, because, obviously, a 2023 model is gonna be worth more than, say, a 2015 one.
- Selected some options and features, just playing around to see how it affected the price.
After I entered all that, the site spit out an estimated value. It was kinda cool to see how the price changed based on the year and the features. I was a bit confused because it is not a normal car and I do not know anything about this kind of vehicle, so I checked it again and again. Finally, I made sure I got the right value.
Then, I also stumbled upon the Kelley Blue Book, or KBB, website. I know them more for regular car values, but they do UTVs too. Tried out their tool as well, just to compare.
The whole process was kinda fun, to be honest. It’s interesting to see how much these things are worth, and how the values are determined. I mean, it’s not something I do every day, but it was a nice little learning experience. Also, I found some articles online talking about how to sell UTVs. Maybe I can get one and make some money.
I also looked around for some listings of utility vehicles for sale near me, just out of curiosity. You can actually see real dealer pricing and some special offers. That’s neat! I did not take advantage of them because I did not have any money though. I selected a random utility vehicle to see how it works. It’s pretty user-friendly, I gotta say.
At the end of the day, I just wanted to see what this whole NADA value thing was about for side-by-sides. Ended up learning a bit more than I expected. Not sure if I’ll ever buy one of these things, but hey, now I know where to check their value if I ever need to. Maybe next time I’ll dig into those Type I ATVs I read about. They are those single-operator ones, right?
Oh, and another thing I found was that NADAguides also provides pricing info for other stuff like used cars, classic cars, motorcycles, and even boats. Who knew? They’re like the encyclopedia of vehicle values!
It is interesting to know that both NADAguides and KBB have their own ways of calculating values. They both have a long history, but they use different methods. Well, for me as a normal guy, I do not really care about this sort of thing, but I just put it here. I think it will be helpful for some of you who are interested in this.
