Getting Started
Okay, so I decided I wanted to get a decent picture of McGregor. Not just any fuzzy thing from the internet, but one I sort of got myself, you know? Felt like a bit of a mission. Heard he was going to be at a promotional event not too far from me.

The Prep Work
First thing was figuring out the details. When, where, could anyone just show up? Took a bit of digging online and asking around. Turned out it was a public thing, but expected to be super crowded. Didn’t need a ticket, which was good, but meant getting there early was key. Charged my phone the night before, cleared some space for photos. Didn’t bother with a big camera, thought my phone would be easier to handle in a crowd.
The Attempt on the Day
Got there maybe two hours early? Already a decent number of people milling about. Found a spot I thought might be okay, kinda near the path he might take. Then the waiting started. More and more people piled in. It got seriously packed, shoulder to shoulder. Keeping my spot wasn’t easy. People kept trying to nudge forward.
When he finally appeared, it was pure chaos. Everyone’s phones went up, people shouting. He didn’t stay still for long, obviously. Moved through pretty quick, surrounded by security. I held my phone up as high as I could, trying to angle it past the heads and other phones in front of me. Just clicked away, hoping for the best.
The Result and What I Got
Later, I looked through the photos. Honestly? Mostly a bust. Here’s what I ended up with:
- Lots of blurry shots.
- Pictures of the back of people’s heads.
- A couple where you can kinda see him, but he’s far away or turning his head.
There was one, maybe two, where you can actually tell it’s him. It’s not great, definitely not frame-worthy. He’s looking away, and it’s not super sharp. But hey, it’s my picture, from that day.

Looking Back
So, yeah. It was an experience. Didn’t exactly get the amazing shot I was hoping for. Learned that getting good photos in those situations is harder than it looks. Maybe needed a proper camera with a zoom, or just needed to be taller! It was kind of exciting being in the middle of it all, but the photo result was a bit meh. Still, got a story out of it, right?
