Alright, so today I was stuck with this number: 105 inches. And I needed to know, like, how many feet is that? You know how it is, sometimes these simple things just pop up and you gotta figure ’em out.

First thing that popped into my head: how many darn inches make a foot? Took me a sec, then, bam! 12 inches. Got it. That’s the key, right?

Okay, 8.75 feet. The ‘8’ is obvious – that’s 8 whole feet. Solid. But then there’s that ‘.75’ bit. What’s that all about in real terms, you know, inches?
I started thinking. 0.75 of a foot. If a whole foot is 12 inches, then 0.75 of those 12 inches must be… Let’s see here…
- I know 0.5 is half, so half of 12 is 6 inches. That’s easy.
- And 0.25 is a quarter, so a quarter of 12 is 3 inches. Got that.
- Add those up, 0.5 (which is 6 inches) + 0.25 (which is 3 inches) = 0.75. So, 6 inches + 3 inches = 9 inches.
Or, you could just multiply 0.75 by 12. Yeah, that gives you 9 too. Sometimes my brain likes to take the scenic route to get to the answer, but we get there.
So, there you have it. After fiddling with it for a minute, 105 inches breaks down to 8 feet and 9 inches. Or, if you’re a decimal person, 8.75 feet. Not rocket science, but it’s done. Just one of those little daily calculations you gotta do sometimes. Glad I sorted that out and can move on with my day!
