NHL Pit vs Car Rivalry: Whos Got More Penalty Minutes in History?

Okay, so yesterday I was trying to figure out what’s the deal with penalties in the NHL, specifically focusing on the Pittsburgh Penguins (PIT) versus some other team, let’s just call them “car” for now, ’cause I can’t recall who they were playing. I’m not the biggest hockey fan, but I like to keep up with the major stuff, you know?

I started by digging around the official NHL website. It’s a pretty solid place for news and stats. They’ve got everything there – scores, schedules, team info. It’s a bit overwhelming, to be honest, but I managed to find some recent game scores and upcoming schedules. I even watched a few highlight videos. Man, those guys are fast!

What I’ve found on the Internet

  • I found this website, StatMuse, that has data on penalty kills going way back to the ’70s. Apparently, the Montreal Canadiens have the most penalty kills this season.
  • I learned about this guy, Trent Yawney, who’s coached a bunch of different teams, including the Chicago Blackhawks. So, it was cool to read some of his insights on the game, especially when it came to the whole penalty area.
  • Then, I tried to make sense of these referee signals. There’s a whole bunch of them, and honestly, it’s like learning a new language. I clicked through some interactive thing where you match the signal to the penalty. Let’s just say I need more practice.
  • Another page had some interesting news about the Edmonton Oilers but nothing really relevant to what I was looking for.
  • There was a site that had recent penalty kill stats for this season but that data is not for this season, so it is pretty much useless.

Sorting things out

So, after a few hours of clicking around, I realized I needed to narrow my focus. I just wanted to know about the penalty kill percentages for the current season, especially for the Penguins. The thing is, all this info is scattered across different places. It’s not like there’s one chart that just tells you what you need to know in simple terms.

I did find out that the Penguins were not having the best season when it comes to penalties. I’m not saying I could do better, but it’s just something I noticed. It made me think about how important it is to have a good strategy for when you’re a man down. I mean, I guess they had to do their best.

Then, to satisfy my curiosity about how this whole thing really works, I read an article about cars. It was about Henry Ford. I think it has some connection here. He made cars affordable, and I feel that maybe understanding the production of cars could help me understand how penalties work in hockey.

Anyway, that’s pretty much how I spent my afternoon. I didn’t become an expert or anything, but I definitely learned a few things. Plus, it was a good way to kill some time. I might do another deep dive soon, maybe on a different team or something. Who knows, maybe I’ll even start following hockey more closely. We’ll see.

For now, I’ve got to get back to my regular stuff. But hey, it was a fun little adventure into the world of hockey penalties. You never know what you’ll end up learning when you’re just browsing the internet, right?
