So, I set out to get some heartwood in Pax Dei the other day, and let me tell you, it was quite the adventure. I had heard that you gotta head over to The Pale to find the good stuff, where the big trees grow. They say you can get a bunch of heartwood from those giant trees, like 30-33 pieces per tree, which is not too bad, right?

First off, I gathered some basic tools. I knew I could find sapwood easily just by picking up tree branches in the starting area, so I grabbed a bunch of those. The branches were everywhere, and you don’t even need tools to collect them. I also heard that if you bought the game on the Pax Dei launcher, you get some special recipes automatically added to your account, which is pretty neat. But I was more focused on getting that heartwood.
Now, I had heard that crafting was the way to go for leveling up your skills. I started with some low-level items that didn’t need many resources. But the real deal was getting that Iron Chopping Axe. I heard you need to hit level 10 first and have some basic workbenches set up. So, I grinded a bit, crafting basic stuff until I hit level 10. Then, I used those workbenches to craft all the stuff I needed for the axe.
Getting that Iron Axe
It took some time, but I finally got my hands on that Iron Chopping Axe. Let me tell you, it felt like a major accomplishment. Then, I moved on to blacksmithing and weaponsmithing, leveling them up to around 15. My friend told me that doing so would allow me to get the wrought iron axe.
Finding the Heartwood
With the wrought iron axe in hand, I marched over to The Pale. It was a bit of a trek, but I was determined. I found those massive trees, just like everyone said. Each swing of the axe was satisfying. It took a while, and my arms were definitely feeling it, but I started chopping away.
- Swung the axe at those huge trees.
- Collected the heartwood that dropped.
- Moved to the next tree and repeated.
Each tree gave me a good amount of heartwood, just like they promised. After a few hours, I had a hefty pile of it. Feeling accomplished, I headed back to my base, ready to start building with this new, higher-tier wood. All in all, it was a solid day’s work, and I can’t wait to see what I can create with all this heartwood.
