Okay, so I’ve been glued to the screen all day, trying to figure out my PGA fantasy picks for this week. It’s the start of the 2025 season, and everyone’s heading to the Plantation Course in Maui for The Sentry. I always get a bit too excited about this one.
First things first, I had to remind myself about the course details. It’s a par 73, stretching over 7,596 yards. Not a walk in the park, that’s for sure. I heard Chris Kirk is the defending champ, so that’s something to keep in the back of my mind.
Then, I started digging into the odds. Schauffele is looking strong as the favorite at +550. I mean, the guy’s ranked No. 2 in the world, so it makes sense. But then you’ve got Justin Thomas at 9-1, Collin Morikawa at 11-1, and Ludvig Aberg at 14-1. It’s making my head spin with the possibilities.
I spent a good chunk of the afternoon just going through player stats from last season, recent form, and how they’ve done at this course before. It’s a lot of number crunching, but I find it kind of fun. You start to see patterns and get a feel for who might have a good week.
- Schauffele: Obviously a strong contender, but is he worth the risk at those odds?
- Justin Thomas: Always a solid player, and those odds are tempting.
- Morikawa: Could he be the one to surprise us all?
- Aberg: A bit of a dark horse, but I like the potential.
After all that, I still haven’t finalized my picks. It’s tough! Part of me wants to play it safe, but then there’s that little voice telling me to take a chance on an underdog.
I also noticed something about “Preferred Lies” in the rules – something about areas cut to fairway height or less. Not sure how much that will impact the game, but I made a note to look into it more. I ended up spending like an hour reading about this rule, because rules get my interest.
Anyway, I’m going to sleep on it and see how I feel in the morning. Maybe a fresh perspective will help me make the final call. It’s always a bit of a gamble, but that’s what makes it exciting, right?
