Okay, so, I got this Royal Enfield Classic 350 a while back. It’s a sweet ride, classic looks, you know? But I’ve always been curious about how fast this thing can actually go. I mean, it’s not a sports bike, but still, a guy’s gotta know, right?
So, I decided to find out. I geared up in my helmet and jacket – safety first, folks! – and I found a long, empty stretch of road. It was early morning, hardly any traffic. Perfect for a little experiment.
I started slow, just cruising, getting a feel for the bike. Then, I started to open it up, bit by bit. The engine has this nice rumble, you can feel it in your chest. It’s pretty cool.
- First gear, took it up to about 20-25 km/h. Smooth.
- Second gear, pushed it to around 40 km/h. Still smooth, engine’s purring along.
- Third, we hit maybe 60-65 km/h. The wind’s starting to pick up now.
- Fourth, I’m at around 80-85 km/h. Bike’s still handling great, no wobbles or anything.
- Fifth gear, this is where it gets interesting.
In fifth, I really let her rip. The engine’s roaring now, and the wind’s whipping past me. I’m tucked in, trying to be as aerodynamic as possible, I guess. I kept pushing, pushing, pushing, The needle on the speedometer kept climbing.
Finally, I hit it. The bike wouldn’t go any faster. I glanced down at the speedometer. Now, I don’t want to exaggerate, but I saw the needle just touch 120 km/h. I held it there for a few seconds, just to be sure, then I eased off the throttle. I could not believe my eyes, I thought I was not fast enough, it was a little bit beyond my expect.
My Thoughts
Honestly, 120 km/h on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 felt pretty darn fast. It’s not designed for speed, but it’s got more oomph than you might think. And I’m pretty sure the ECU is what’s limiting the top speed, not the engine itself. If you are a fan of speed, this bike is well worth the effort.
Would I recommend doing this every day? Probably not. It’s a cruiser, not a racer. But was it fun to test its limits? You bet.
