Alright, folks, gather ’round. Today, I’m gonna talk about something that happened to me on the golf course. It’s about this term called “septuple bogey.” Yeah, I know, sounds like a mouthful, and trust me, it felt like one, too.

So, there I was, out on the course, having a pretty decent day. Sun was shining, birds were chirping, and my swing was feeling good. I was feeling like a champ. But then, I got to the third hole. Now, I’d heard of a “bogey” before—it’s like when you mess up a little and take one extra shot than you should. But a “septuple bogey”? That was a whole new level of messing up.
Here’s What I Did
- Teeing Off: Started off with what I thought was a solid drive. But the ball had other plans, it hooked to the left.
- Second Shot: Tried to recover, but it was still far from the green. I was frustrated by the situation.
- Third to Sixth Shots: Each swing seemed to make it worse. The ball went into the trees, then the water hazard. I just lost all control, it was like I’d never played golf before.
- Seventh Shot: Finally, I hit the ball towards the green. I was so relieved, but it wasn’t over yet.
- Eighth and Ninth Shots: Two putts later, I was on the green, but the damage was already done.
- Tenth Shot: I finally got the ball into the hole. It was a disaster, a complete disaster.
It was on the third hole, and I completely bombed it. I mean, I really messed it up. I took ten shots—yeah, you heard that right, ten—to get that darn ball into the hole. Now, for those of you who don’t know, a par on this hole was three. That means I should’ve taken three shots, maybe four if I wasn’t playing my best. But ten? That’s seven over par, a septuple bogey. I didn’t even know that was a thing!
I felt like such a rookie. I wanted to crawl into a hole and hide. But you know what? I finished the game. I didn’t let that one terrible hole ruin my whole day. And that’s what I learned. In golf, like in life, you’re gonna have those moments where you totally screw up. You’re gonna have your septuple bogeys. But it’s not about how badly you mess up, it’s about how you bounce back. Do you let it get you down, or do you pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep going?
So, yeah, that’s my story about the dreaded septuple bogey. It wasn’t pretty, but hey, it’s a part of the game. And now, whenever I hear someone talking about a bad hole, I just chuckle and think, “Buddy, you have no idea.”
