Should You Try Golf With 2 Gloves for Grip?

Alright, let’s talk about something I tried out on the golf course the other day – playing with two gloves. Yeah, you heard that right, two gloves.

So, I headed out to the course on a bit of a chilly and misty morning. Normally, I just use one glove like most folks, but I was curious. I had read somewhere that a few pros use two gloves, especially when it’s nasty weather out. And I remembered a famous golfer always wore two gloves. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”

First thing I noticed when I teed off was the grip. Man, it felt different, but in a good way. With both hands covered, I really felt like I had a solid hold on the club. It was almost like my hands and the club were one piece.

  • I started swinging, and I could tell right away that I was getting a bit more power. It wasn’t a huge difference, but it was noticeable.
  • I was able to swing a little harder without worrying about the club slipping. It just felt more secure.
  • It was like I was able to generate a bit more speed, and the ball seemed to go a little farther.

Now, I won’t lie, it did feel a little weird at first. I was so used to having one hand bare that having both covered took some getting used to. But after a few holes, I barely even noticed it. The extra grip and the feeling of control really started to grow on me.

Improvement

Another thing I realized was that my hands weren’t getting as tired. Usually, after a full round, my hands would be a bit sore, especially in the colder weather. But with two gloves, it was like they were getting a bit of extra cushioning. I bet folks with arthritis would find this a big help. By the end of the round, my hands felt great, no soreness at all.

So, would I recommend using two gloves? Honestly, it’s probably a personal preference thing. But if you’re looking for a little extra grip, especially when it’s cold or wet, it’s definitely worth trying. It might just give you a bit more confidence and control in your swing. I know I’ll be trying it again. After all, if it works for some of the pros, it might just work for us weekend warriors too, right?

I’m going to keep experimenting with this two-glove thing. Maybe it’ll become my new normal, or maybe I’ll just save it for those days when the weather is really rough. Either way, it’s another tool in the toolbox, and that’s always a good thing in golf.
