Alright so last night’s Sixers versus Thunder game was straight fire, and I knew I had to make a top 5 moments reel right away. My process? Always starts the same way.

Grabbing the Raw Footage
First thing I did was hop onto the official league highlights site after the final buzzer. Man, downloading those clips takes ages sometimes. I grabbed all the key plays – Maxey’s crazy fast breaks, Embiid posterizing Chet like it was nothing, SGA slicing through our defense. My downloads folder looked like a mess after, gotta clean that up tomorrow. While waiting, I popped open my video editor – stuck with my usual one, gets the job done.
Picking My Top 5
This part always takes longer than I think. Watched every highlight back like five times each. Tough choices! Maxey’s ankle-breaker in the 3rd? Absolutely in. That insane block by Covington out of nowhere? Had to include it. I jotted them down quick:
- Maxey’s 4-point play (Dude got fouled and sank it!)
- Embiid’s monster dunk on Holmgren (Chet just got put on a poster, ouch)
- Paul George steal & slam (Vintage PG!)
- Melton’s buzzer-beater 3 (Right before halftime, hype!)
- SGA’s impossible and-one finish (Kid is unreal, gotta respect it)
Sorting them into a watchable order is key. Gotta start strong but also save something huge for the end. Decided to end with Melton’s shot. That roar from the crowd? Chills.
Putting it Together
Now the real work begins. Loading each clip felt slow – my laptop ain’t exactly new. Spent way too much time trimming the fat off each moment, just keeping the pure gold parts. Syncing the sounds was tricky too – the raw clips didn’t always have the commentator gasping exactly right. Muscle memory kicked in, added my short intro template (“Last Night’s TOP FIVE, LET’S GO!”) and the outro asking folks to smash like.
Exporting always feels like holding my breath. Hit render, grabbed another coffee. That spinning wheel took its sweet time. Finally popped the MP4 into my upload platform, typed a quick description, and hit publish around 2 AM. Beat? Definitely. Happy with it? Always is when you capture the best of that Philly energy. Job done!
