Right, so I saw “Slavia Prag Fenerbahçe” pop up somewhere the other day. Can’t remember where, maybe just scrolling online. Didn’t watch the game or anything, but the name Fenerbahçe just clicked something in my head.
Made me think about this old football shirt I’ve got stashed away somewhere. A Fenerbahçe one. Bought it ages ago, must’ve been on a holiday, or maybe found it in a second-hand shop? Memory’s a bit fuzzy on the exact details.
Finding The Thing
Anyway, seeing the name got me thinking, where did I even put that shirt? It’s been years. So, I decided, right, let’s have a look. Operation Find The Jersey commenced.
First stop, the attic. Dragged the ladder out, climbed up into the dust. Spent a good hour up there, sneezing my head off. Found:
- Old university textbooks. Why do I still have these?
- A box of tangled Christmas lights. Definitely not working.
- My kid’s first pair of shoes. Aww.
- No Fenerbahçe shirt. Drat.
Okay, plan B. The big plastic boxes under the bed. Pulled those out. More junk. Old clothes I swear I’d gotten rid of, some questionable CDs from the early 2000s. Getting warmer, maybe? Dug right to the bottom of the second box, past some truly hideous sweaters…
Success and Next Steps
And bingo! There it was. Folded up small, bit dusty, but definitely the yellow and navy stripes. Felt pretty chuffed finding it, actually. Like digging up treasure.
It wasn’t in terrible nick, just needed a good wash. It’s one of those older polyester things, you gotta be careful. So, I didn’t just chuck it in with the regular laundry. Nah.
Here’s what I did:
- Turned it inside out first. Always do that with printed shirts.
- Put it in one of those mesh laundry bags. Extra protection.
- Used the gentle cycle on the washing machine, cold water only.
- Skipped the harsh detergent, used just a little bit of the mild stuff.
- Definitely no tumble dryer! Hung it up on a hanger to air dry, away from direct sun.
Came out looking pretty decent! Still smells a bit… old, but clean. Now it’s hanging up. Dunno what I’ll do with it. Maybe just keep it for the memory. Funny how a random match name can send you down a rabbit hole like that, eh?
