Someone Wholl Watch Over Me Play: Discover the History of This Classic.

Okay, so today I messed around with “someone who’ll watch over me” on my guitar. I’ve always loved that song, but never really sat down to learn it properly. I figured, why not give it a shot and see how it goes?

First, I grabbed my guitar and tuned it up. Gotta make sure it sounds right, you know? Nothing worse than trying to play a song on an out-of-tune guitar. Ouch!

Then, I looked up some chords online. I’m not gonna lie, I’m not some guitar wizard. I need a little help, and thankfully there are tons of resources out there. I found a version that seemed pretty straightforward, nothing too crazy.

Next, I started strumming the basic chords. Just getting a feel for the rhythm and the changes. It’s a pretty slow song, so it wasn’t too difficult to keep up. At the beginning, I just simply go through G, C, and D, pretty standard stuff.

  • G chord: Easy peasy.
  • C chord: No problem.
  • D chord: Still good.

I practiced that progression for a bit, just going back and forth, getting my fingers used to the movements. Muscle memory, that’s the key!

Then came the slightly trickier part. There’s this one chord, I think it’s a D7 or something, that I always fumble a bit. My fingers just don’t want to cooperate sometimes. But I kept at it, repeating that section over and over again until I could play it without messing up too badly.

Focus Time!

I spent a good chunk of time just focusing on that one tricky chord. Slowing it down, making sure my fingers were in the right place, and then gradually speeding it up. It’s frustrating at first, but when you finally nail it, it feels great!

After I felt somewhat comfortable with the chords, I tried singing along. Okay, I’m definitely not a singer. But it’s fun to try, right? I probably sounded awful, but hey, who cares? I was having fun.

Finally, I played through the whole song a few times, from beginning to end. It wasn’t perfect, not even close. But I could actually play it! That’s a win in my book.

The whole practice session last me around 2 hours I guess. I took some break and drink some water during the process. Because practice need to stay hydrated, right?

So, yeah, that was my little guitar adventure today. Nothing fancy, just me, my guitar, and a classic song. It’s amazing how much you can accomplish with a little bit of practice and a lot of patience. Keep strumming, folks!
