Alright, so everyone’s buzzing about this soft cap in ‘The Final Shape’. Figured I’d share how my own little journey to it went. Nothing too groundbreaking, you know, just the usual drill when a new chapter drops.
Getting Started in the Thick of It
So, I jumped in, eager as ever. They basically plopped me down at, I think it was 1900 Power right out of the gate. Fresh start, new gear, the whole nine yards. My old stuff felt ancient already, classic stuff.
The first thing I did was just tackle the main story missions. Seemed like the most straightforward way to get my bearings and, more importantly, get those initial gear drops. Every piece that dropped, whether it was a blue or a purple, was an upgrade. That’s how it always is at the start, isn’t it? You’re just constantly swapping gear.
The Grind to 1950 Power
Honestly, getting to the soft cap, which I found out is 1950 Power this time around, wasn’t much of a slog. It felt a bit quicker than Lightfall’s initial climb, if I remember correctly. Or maybe I was just in the zone.
- I hammered through the campaign quests. Those alone pushed my Power up quite a bit.
- Mixed in some public events as I was moving between story beats. Easy loot, easy XP.
- Dipped my toes into a few of the new patrol activities on the Pale Heart. Exploring and shooting stuff, you know?
- Didn’t really stress about optimizing. Just equipped whatever had the bigger number.
It was a pretty smooth process. Every activity seemed to drop something that nudged me higher. Blues were actually useful for a change, at least for a little while. I wasn’t specifically farming for anything, just playing the game, and the levels came naturally. Before I knew it, gear started dropping consistently around that 1950 mark.
So, I’m at the Soft Cap. Now What?
Hitting 1950 Power means the easy part is over, I guess. Now the real grind begins if you want to push higher for the tougher stuff. You know, powerful rewards, pinnacle gear – all that jazz. The blue gear stops being helpful, and you gotta be more intentional about where you get your upgrades.
It’s funny, every expansion, every season, it’s this little ritual. We all scramble for these arbitrary numbers. I’ve been doing this for years, across so many games. You get to the soft cap, then the hard cap, then the pinnacle cap. The names change, the numbers go up, but the dance is always kinda the same. Not complaining, mind you. It’s part of the loop. It just makes me chuckle sometimes when I see people stressing out hardcore in the first week. For me, I just take it as it comes, enjoy the new story, shoot some aliens. The numbers will follow if you just keep playing.
Anyway, that was my run to the soft cap. Pretty straightforward. Now, onto figuring out these new powerful sources!
