Stuck?Cant use Max Throttle in F1 23, Troubleshooting Now!

Okay, so I’ve been playing F1 23 for a while now, and I kept running into this super annoying issue where I couldn’t go full throttle. It was driving me nuts! I’d be on a straight, foot to the floor, and the car just wouldn’t hit top speed. I figured I’d share what I did to figure it out, in case anyone else is pulling their hair out over this.

Troubleshooting My Throttle

First thing I did was check the obvious stuff. I mean, sometimes it’s the simplest things, right?

  • Controller Check: I use a racing wheel, so I made sure it was plugged in properly. I even unplugged it and plugged it back in, just to be sure. No dice.
  • Game Settings: I dove into the game settings. I looked at the control mappings to see if anything was messed up there. Nope, everything looked normal. Throttle was mapped to the correct pedal.

Still no full throttle. Grrr.

Digging Deeper

Since the easy stuff didn’t work, I had to start thinking a bit harder. I started wondering if it was a problem with the game itself, or maybe my setup.

  • Calibration: This is where I started to get somewhere. I realized I hadn’t calibrated my pedals in the game’s settings. I found the calibration option and followed the on-screen instructions. Basically, it has you press each pedal all the way down and then release it, so the game knows the full range of motion.

Bingo! After calibrating, I went back into a race, and… full throttle! It was such a relief. I could finally hit those top speeds on the straights.

Other Things to Consider (That I Didn’t Have to Do, Luckily)

Now, calibration fixed it for me, but I did some reading online while I was trying to figure this out, and there are a few other things that might cause this issue:

  • Assists: Some assists, like traction control, might limit your throttle input to prevent wheelspin. I already play with most assists off, but if you’re using them, you might want to try turning them down or off to see if that helps.
  • Car Damage: I suppose if your car is seriously damaged, that might affect your top speed. My car was fine, though, so that wasn’t it.
  • Controller Issues: It’s possible that your controller itself is faulty. I read about some people having issues with their pedals not registering the full range of motion. If you suspect this, you might need to try a different controller or see if there are any driver updates available.

Anyway, I was super happy to finally get that full throttle working. Hopefully, if you’re having the same problem, this little walkthrough of what I did will help you out!
