Taylor Fritz Foot Problem: How Is It Affecting His Game?

Okay, guys, let’s talk about my foot. You know, the one that’s been giving me a hard time. I’ve been dealing with this on and off for a while now, and it’s a real pain, literally.

It all started back in, I think it was early 2023. I was gearing up for the BNP Paribas Open final, feeling good, ready to go. Then, bam! During my warmup, I felt this sharp pain in my right ankle. I tried to put some weight on it, but no dice. It was like my foot just gave out on me.

  • First sign of trouble: Morning of the final against Nadal.
  • What happened: Freak ankle injury during warmup.
  • The feeling: Couldn’t put any weight on my right foot.

So, I went to see the doctor on-site, and after a quick check, he said it might be a fracture. A fracture! Can you believe it? He even told me that if I were his son, he wouldn’t let me play. But hey, I’m stubborn, and I really wanted to compete.

I pushed through, played the final, and somehow managed to win. But the pain didn’t stop there. I had to withdraw from the Madrid tournament in May 2022 because of a left foot injury. Yeah, my other foot decided to join the party. It was a mess.

Then, in January 2024, during a match, I rolled over and held my ankle in pain again. The whole arena gasped, and I bet everyone thought, “Here we go again.” It was scary, to be honest. I mean, I have a son, Jordan, born in 2017. I was married to his mom, Raquel, a former pro tennis player, from 2016 to 2019. Now, I’m with Morgan, a fashion influencer, since June 2020. Thinking about them, especially my son, makes me want to be more careful. But the love for the game, you know?

What I’ve Learned

  • Take injuries seriously: Even if you want to play, listen to your body.
  • Doctors know best: They see this stuff all the time. If they say rest, you rest.
  • Family first: Thinking about my son makes me rethink risks.

It’s been a rollercoaster, dealing with these foot issues. I’ve learned a lot, though. About my body, about when to push and when to hold back. It’s tough, balancing my career with my personal life, especially with a kid. But I’m figuring it out, one step at a time. And hopefully, my feet will cooperate a bit more in the future. It is really not an easy thing to do for me. But I just love my career.
