The Every 11 Minutes Reality: Whats Really Going On? (Facts and Figures)

Okay, so I got this idea to do something every 11 minutes. Why 11? I don’t know, it just sounded kinda random and fun. I wanted to see if I could stick to it, you know, like a mini-challenge for myself.

The Every 11 Minutes Reality: Whats Really Going On? (Facts and Figures)

Setting Things Up

First, I grabbed my phone and opened up the timer app. I set it to 11 minutes, figuring that was the core of this whole thing. I didn’t want any fancy alarms, just a simple beep would do.

The First Few Rounds

  • First 11 minutes: I decided to start with something easy, so I just did some stretches. Felt good to get the blood flowing.
  • Second 11 minutes: I grabbed a glass of water and chugged it down. Gotta stay hydrated, right?
  • Third 11 minutes: I just took my dog out to pee.
  • Fourth 11 minutes: I scribbled down some random thoughts in my notebook. Nothing profound, just whatever popped into my head.

Getting Into the Groove (and Stumbling a Bit)

As I kept going, I started to realize that 11 minutes is both a short and a long time. Short enough that it doesn’t feel like a huge commitment, but long enough that you can actually get something done, even if it’s tiny. I take a 5minutes’ break.

I did hit a few snags. Sometimes I’d get distracted and forget to start the timer again right away. Other times, I’d be in the middle of something when the timer went off, and it felt awkward to stop. But generally, keep it up, it is an interesting experiment.

The Results (So Far)

I haven’t been doing this for a super long time, just a few hours, but I can already see some interesting things:

  • It makes me more aware of time. I’m more conscious of how I’m spending my minutes, even when the timer isn’t running.
  • It forces me to take breaks. Even if I’m “in the zone,” the timer reminds me to step away for a bit.
  • It encourages small actions. I’m doing little things that I might normally put off, like tidying up my desk or replying to a text.

I’m not sure how long I’ll keep this up, maybe I’ll try it for a whole day and see what happens.
