Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with finding the thyroid notch. I’ve always been a little curious about the anatomy of the neck, and I figured, why not try to locate it myself? It’s that little dip you feel in your throat, right above the Adam’s apple (if you have one).

Getting Started
First, I washed my hands. Gotta be clean, especially when you’re poking around your neck. Then, I stood in front of a mirror. Good lighting is key here – you need to see what you’re doing.
The Process
I started by gently running my fingers up the front of my neck, feeling for the hard cartilage. It’s pretty easy to find the general area, it feels like a smooth, firm bump. That’s the thyroid cartilage.
Then, I moved my fingers slightly upwards, feeling for a small indentation or “notch”. It’s not super obvious, at least on me. I had to press pretty gently and move my fingers around a bit to really feel *’s subtle, but it’s there!
- Locate the thyroid cartilage.
- Move fingers slightly upward.
- Feel for a small indentation.
The Result
Honestly, it took a few tries. I think I was pressing too hard at first. Once I lightened up my touch, I could definitely feel the notch. It’s a small, V-shaped dip, just above the main part of the cartilage.
It was a fun little experiment! Nothing groundbreaking, but it’s cool to connect with your body in a new way and learn something new.
