Okay, so I’ve been hooked on Pokemon Go again lately, and I really wanted to add a Togepi to my collection. I mean, who doesn’t love that little eggshell Pokemon? So, I set out on a mission to hatch one. Here’s how it went down:
Getting those Eggs
First things first, I needed eggs. Lots of eggs. I remembered Togepi comes from the 7km eggs, the ones you get from gifts. So I started hitting up my friends list. Sent out a bunch of gifts, hoping they’d return the favor.
I spun every PokeStop I could find, stocking up on Pokeballs. And also started opening gifts my friends had sent. I kept getting those regular 2km and 5km eggs, ugh. Finally, after opening what felt like a million gifts, I saw it – a bright yellow 7km egg!

Walking, Walking, and More Walking
Now came the real work. 7 kilometers is no joke, especially when you’re trying to hatch a bunch of eggs at once. I loaded up my incubators – I always use the free one first, of course, then, I put 7KM in the paid incubator.
I walked everywhere. To the store, around the block, even just pacing around my house while watching TV. My phone’s step counter was going crazy!
Tips:Turn on Adventure Sync, making my steps count even when the app’s closed.
The Moment of Truth
After what felt like forever (and probably several blisters), I finally got the notification. “Oh?” My egg was hatching! I held my breath, crossed my fingers, and watched the animation.
And… it wasn’t a Togepi. I think it was a Vulpix. Disappointed but not surprised. It’s always a gamble with these eggs! So I keep walking and hatching eggs.
Finally Get Togepi
Walked many days and finally, another 7KM egg hatched!
And… YES! It’s Togepi! I finally got my cute little Togepi. It was totally worth all the walking (and the near-heartbreak of hatching all those other Pokemon). Now I can finally start working on evolving it into Togetic and eventually Togekiss!
