Okay, so today I decided to dig into Trendon Watford’s free throw shooting. I’d noticed it seemed a bit… off, and I wanted to see if I could figure out what was going on.

Getting Started
First, I pulled up a bunch of Watford’s game footage. I focused specifically on his free throws, obviously. I wanted a good sample size, so I grabbed clips from different games throughout the season.
Observation Time
I started watching, and I mean really watching. I slowed down the videos, paused them, rewound them – the whole nine yards. I was looking at everything: his stance, his grip, his release, his follow-through. I scribbled down some notes as I went, like a crazy person.
- Feet shoulder-width apart? Check.
- Knees slightly bent? Check.
- Ball held high? Uh… sometimes?
Spotting the Issues
After a while, a few things started to jump out at me. It wasn’t one big, glaring problem, but a few inconsistencies that seemed to be throwing him off. It looks inconsistent.
The Follow-Through (or Lack Thereof)
And finally, the follow-through. Sometimes he’d hold it high, like you’re supposed to. Other times, it was like he forgot about it completely, his arm just kind of flopping down.
Putting It All Together
So, after all this watching and note-taking, I feel like I’ve got a decent handle on Watford’s free throw woes. It’s not one single thing, but a combination of small inconsistencies that are probably affecting his accuracy.I hope this makes sense.
