Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of football signing day rankings. It’s something I’ve always heard about, but never really understood how it all works. So, I figured, why not figure it out and track my progress?
Getting Started
First, I needed to find some data. This took a little bit of searching.I started to understand I needed information from the people doing the rankings.
Digging into the Data
Once I found a couple of main sources, I started to organize everything. I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper.
- Team Names: I made a list of schools. Simple enough.
- Player Names: Then, I start to put names.
- Stars and Ratings: Next to each player, I started figuring out the rating system. It’s all about those stars, apparently!
The Real Work
The biggest part was putting it all * became clear pretty quick that it’s not just about how many “good” players a team gets. It’s also about the overall quality of the whole group they’re signing.
The Result
By the end of the day, after messing around with the raw data , I felt like I had a basic handle on the whole ranking thing. It’s not perfect, and I’m sure the pros do it way better, but it was a good start! I can now kinda-sorta understand what all the fuss is about on signing day.
