Recently, I laid my hands on a 2016 Indian Scout Sixty, and man, it’s a beauty! This bike is such a fantastic basic cruiser and it’s perfect for someone who’s just stepping up from those smaller beginner bikes. When I first saw it, I thought, “This is it. This is the one I want to customize.”

So, I started looking around for parts. I mean, a bike like this deserves to be dressed up just the way you want it, right? I wanted to add some aftermarket parts and accessories. It’s all about making it your own, you know? I checked out brands like Kellermann, Wunderkind Custom, Joker Machine, and a few others. There’s just so much cool stuff out there.
The first thing I did was to think about how I wanted the bike to look. I mean, the Scout Sixty already looks great, but I wanted to give it a personal touch. So I started with some small changes.
- Handlebars: I swapped out the stock handlebars for something a bit more my style. It wasn’t too hard, just unbolted the old ones and put on the new ones.
- Mirrors: Then, I got some new mirrors. The ones that came with the bike were okay, but I wanted something that looked a bit cooler.
- Seat: I also changed the seat. The original was comfortable enough, but I found one that’s even better and looks awesome.
After those initial changes, I started getting into the more serious stuff. I found some really nice parts from the brands that I mentioned earlier. The quality of these parts is amazing, and they really started to transform the bike.
One of the things I really wanted to do was to improve the bike’s performance. It’s already a peppy bike, but who doesn’t want a bit more power, right? I looked into some performance upgrades. After some research, I decided to install a new exhaust system. This not only made the bike sound meaner but also gave it a noticeable power boost. Installing it was a bit of a challenge, but I managed to get it done with the help of some friends.
Next up, I focused on the lighting. I replaced the stock headlight with a brighter LED one, and also added some auxiliary lights. This made a huge difference when riding at night. I feel much safer now, and the bike looks even cooler with the new lights.

Then I started thinking about the aesthetics. I wanted the bike to really stand out. I found a custom paint shop that does amazing work. We talked about what I had in mind, and they came up with a design that I absolutely loved. The paint job completely changed the look of the bike. It’s like a piece of art now.
I also got some custom wheels. The stock wheels were fine, but these new ones are just on another level. They look so good, and they also improved the handling of the bike. It feels even more responsive now.
The final touch was adding some accessories. I got a small windshield, which helps a lot with wind protection on longer rides. I also installed some saddlebags, which are super practical for carrying stuff around. They look great too, matching the overall style of the bike.
All in all, customizing this 2016 Indian Scout Sixty has been an amazing experience. I’ve learned so much along the way, and I’m really proud of how the bike turned out. It’s not just a motorcycle anymore; it’s a reflection of my personality and style. Every time I ride it, I can’t help but smile. It’s just so much fun to ride, and it turns heads wherever I go.
If you have a Scout Sixty, or any bike for that matter, I highly recommend trying out some customization. It doesn’t have to be anything major. Even small changes can make a big difference. Just remember to have fun with it and make it your own!
I did encounter a small issue when my bike got some scratches, I tried to fix the scratches with a touch-up paint that I found. I just carefully filled in the scratches with the paint. Then, I took some 600 grit sandpaper and wet-sanded the area to smooth it down, I even used some 200 grit paper right on the scratches to level them out a bit better. It’s not perfect, but you can hardly tell they were there.
Conclusion
Customizing the Indian Scout Sixty has turned it into my dream bike. From swapping out the handlebars and seat to installing a new exhaust system and getting a custom paint job, every step has been worth it. It’s a head-turner for sure, and it rides like a dream. This project has been a blast, and I’ve learned a ton along the way. For anyone out there thinking about personalizing their ride, go for it. It’s an awesome way to make your bike truly yours. Just remember, it’s all about having fun and expressing yourself through your machine. Ride on!
