Okay, so I was chatting with my friends the other day, and we got into this whole debate about Thanksgiving. You know, the usual stuff – what’s the best pie, who makes the worst cranberry sauce, that kind of thing.

Then, this one friend, Mark, he asks, “Hey, does the day before Thanksgiving have a name?” And we all just kinda stared at each other. I mean, I’d never really thought about it. It’s just…the day before Thanksgiving, right?
So, I pulled out my phone and did a quick search. Turns out, there are several names that can be called.
What names are available?
- Blackout Wednesday
- Drinksgiving
- Thanksgiving Eve
I found Some people call it “Blackout Wednesday” because, apparently, it’s a big night for going out to bars. Others use “Thanksgiving Eve” and “Drinksgiving”.
Honestly, I kinda like “Thanksgiving Eve.” It’s simple, it makes sense, and it doesn’t involve any potentially messy bar situations. Although, the idea of everyone getting together for one last hurrah before the family festivities…that’s kind of appealing too.
So, yeah, that’s my little story about the day before Thanksgiving. It might not have an official name, but we’ve got some options. I’m sticking with “Thanksgiving Eve,” but hey, you do you.
