Okay, so I saw this “back of Spencer’s” meme thing going around, and I just had to try and make one myself. It looked simple enough, but, you know, things are never as easy as they seem, are they?
First, I needed a good picture. I spent, like, a solid hour just scrolling through my camera roll. I finally settled on this one photo of my cat, Mittens, looking particularly grumpy. It was perfect. Grumpy cat vibes, you know?
Finding the Right Font
Next up, the font. That weird, kinda-wavy font. That’s the key to making the meme work. I spent a good, I think, a good amount of time on many font websites. Trying to check the suitable font, it’s hard.
- I downloaded a few that looked promising.
- Then I installed them on my old laptop.
- Open my dusty photoshop.
I tried them out, I put the word, on the top of the Mitten’s picture. One was too bubbly, another was too… I don’t know… formal? It just didn’t have that Spencer’s feel.
Editing the Picture
I fiddled around with the colors a bit, trying to make them a little more… muted? Like, I wanted it to look like an old T-shirt, not a brand-new poster,The text had to be that weird off-white, almost-yellow color. Again, lots of tweaking with the color sliders. I think I got it pretty close, though. Not perfect, but close enough.
The Final Touches
Finally, I added the text, “back of spencer’s meme” underneath it, I used that wavy text, I finally choose. I played around with the spacing and the size until it looked… right. You know, it’s hard to explain, but you just know when it’s right.
And… that was it! I saved it as a JPG, posted on my weibo, and sat back to wait for the likes to roll in. It’s not gonna go viral or anything, but I was pretty proud of myself. It’s the little things, right?
