My Take on the Nuggets at 76ers Game Night
So, I saw the Nuggets were playing the 76ers the other night. Always circle that one on the calendar, you know? Usually means Jokic vs Embiid, which is just great basketball. Gets me thinking about how I even watch these games nowadays.
I remember setting things up. Didn’t do anything fancy. Just grabbed some chips, found my usual spot on the couch. The dog jumped up, like always. It’s kind of a little routine, I guess. Settle in, flip to the channel, wait for tip-off.
The game started, and right away, well, you know Embiid wasn’t playing. That changes things, doesn’t it? Felt a bit different. Still, watching Jokic operate is something else. He just sees things nobody else does. Made a few of those passes that make you rewind even if you’re watching live somehow.
Here’s the thing though… it made me think about consistency. Jokic is just always there, doing his thing. It reminded me of this old project I worked on years back. Completely unrelated, I know, but stick with me.
- We had this one guy on the team. Let’s call him Dave.
- Dave wasn’t flashy. Didn’t talk a big game.
- But every single day, Dave delivered. Solid work, no fuss.
- When things got crazy, you could count on Dave. He was the Jokic of our team, maybe? Ha.
Anyway, the Nuggets got the win. Expected, maybe, without Joel playing for Philly. But watching Jokic, and thinking about old Dave, it just got me thinking about showing up. Day in, day out. It’s not always about the spectacular plays, sometimes it’s just about being reliable.
Just some thoughts I had while watching the game. Funny where your mind wanders sometimes, right?
