Okay, so, I’ve been playing this game a lot lately, and one character that always got me was Mei. You know, the one with the ice gun. I was getting frozen all the time, it was super annoying! I mean, seriously, her slow is super strong. So I started to figure out how to deal with her. I decided to look for some info online about who counters Mei.
I spent a couple of hours digging around. I skimmed through some forum discussions and the first one was about a recent nerf and how to counter her in general. There was also a post about strategy to counter her and a discussion about what tanks can deal with her. After browsing these, I learned that there are some characters that are pretty good against Mei.
Here’s what I found out:

Long-range heroes are your friends. Some posts mentioned that staying away is important, because Mei is apparently really strong up close. So, characters like Hanzo can be good because they can hit her from far away, and do more damage.

Flying heroes can be a pain for Mei. One forum post specifically highlighted Pharah. She can fly around, stay out of Mei’s freeze range, and shoot her from above. Sounds like a good plan, right?

Mobile heroes can dodge her stuff. There was also something about Winston being able to avoid Mei’s abilities and use his own to mess her up. That’s interesting.
After learning all of this, I hopped back into the game to put it to the test. I started playing Pharah a lot. It felt great to fly around and rain down rockets on Mei. I also tried Hanzo a few times, and it was pretty satisfying to snipe her from a distance. One time, I even tried Winston. It was kinda funny to jump around and zap her while she tried to freeze me. It was a little tricky, but I managed to make it work.
After playing these heroes, I feel a lot better about facing Mei now. It’s not so frustrating anymore! It’s actually pretty fun to try different strategies and see what works. I’m still learning, but I’m definitely getting better at dealing with that pesky ice queen!
Some extra thoughts
It seems like Mei can be tricky for new players, which makes sense. Some posts mentioned that her kit is unique and can be hard to play against at first. But once you figure out how to counter her, it’s not so bad. There are five heroes that can neutralize her freezing powers!
