My Tangle with Mena Facundo
So, I heard about this thing, this approach called Mena Facundo. Someone mentioned it somewhere, maybe online, maybe a meetup, can’t quite recall. Sounded like one of those ‘game-changer’ methods, you know? Supposed to make things smoother, projects easier, the usual promises.

Figured, why not? Got this side project I tinker with on weekends. Thought I’d apply the Mena Facundo way to it. See if it actually worked. Cleared my desk, got some coffee, ready to dive in.
Well, that dive turned into wading through mud. I spent a good chunk of Saturday trying to grasp the core ideas. There were these steps, these phases… honestly, it felt kinda fuzzy. I tried mapping out my project using its principles. Drew some diagrams. Made lists. It felt like I was spending more time trying to understand Mena Facundo than actually doing the project work.
- First, I tried breaking down tasks like it suggested.
- Then, I attempted to follow its ‘flow’ or whatever they called it.
- Ended up with more notes about Mena Facundo itself than actual code or progress.
Got pretty frustrated, you know? Felt like I was wrestling with a ghost. This thing was supposed to simplify, but it just added layers of confusion. By Sunday afternoon, I was staring at my screen, thinking this was a massive waste of time.
Here’s the weird part. I got so fed up I just slammed the laptop shut and went out for a walk, just to clear my head. Ended up walking further than usual, down near the old industrial park. And guess what? Found this scruffy-looking terrier, no collar, looking totally lost. Spent the next few hours trying to find its owner. Walked around, asked folks, even took it to the local vet to check for a chip (no luck).
Long story short, I ended up posting pics online, and thankfully, the owner saw it late that night. They lived just a few blocks away, frantic. Seeing how relieved they were, dealing with that little real-world problem… it sort of reset my brain.
Went back to my project the next weekend. You know what I did with the Mena Facundo notes? Shoved them in a drawer. Just went back to my usual messy, chaotic way of doing things. And you know what? I actually made progress. It wasn’t ‘optimized’ or ‘streamlined’ according to some fancy method, but it was real work getting done.
So, Mena Facundo? Yeah, didn’t really click for me. Maybe it works for some folks, but for me, it felt like unnecessary baggage. Sometimes, just getting your hands dirty and dealing with stuff as it comes – even lost dogs – is more productive than trying to follow a rigid plan someone else cooked up. That’s my take on it, anyway. Just ended up being a weird weekend detour.
