Alright, so today I’m gonna walk you through my experience with the shammgod wells drill. I messed around with it last week. It’s a fun one, but definitely takes some practice.

First off, I saw it online and thought, “Hey, looks kinda cool. I can probably do that.” Famous last words, right?

I started by just trying to get the basic handle down. You know, the whole behind-the-back, change-of-direction thing. I grabbed my ball and just started practicing the movement without even dribbling. Just the hand motion, trying to get the feel for how the ball would move. I drilled that for like, maybe 20 minutes.

Next, I added the dribble. And that’s where things got…interesting. I swear, the ball had a mind of its own. It was bouncing everywhere but where I wanted it to go. I kept losing the ball, tripping over my own feet. It was a mess.

I slowed way down. Like, snail’s pace slow. Focused on pushing the ball across my body, then scooping it back behind me. Really tried to feel the ball in my hand. I think it was about 15 minutes for me to have it where it will start to show some progress.

Then, I started working on doing it while moving forward. Oh man, that’s a whole different ballgame. Now you gotta worry about your footwork, your balance, and keeping the ball under control. More turnovers for like 20minutes. I did a few of them slowly, like maybe ten of them, and got a little bit better.

Key things I learned:

  • Start slow: Seriously, don’t try to be a hero right away. Get the fundamentals down first.
  • Focus on your hand: That’s where the magic happens. You gotta feel the ball in your hand and control its movement.
  • Practice, practice, practice: There’s no substitute for repetition. The more you do it, the better you’ll get.

I’m still not perfect at it, not even close. But I’m definitely seeing improvement. It’s a fun drill to add to my routine, and I think it’s helping with my overall ball-handling skills.

So, yeah, that’s my shammgod wells experience. Give it a try. Just don’t get discouraged if you’re terrible at it at first. Everyone is. Just keep practicing, and you’ll get there.
