Hey everyone, today I want to share my experience of trying to replicate the style of Tyler Spangler, who is known for his vibrant and collage-like digital art. I’m no expert, but I figured it’d be fun to try something new.
Getting Started
First, I spent some time looking at Tyler Spangler’s work online. I noticed he uses a lot of bold colors, vintage imagery, and overlapping elements. It looks chaotic, but in a really cool, organized way. It’s kind of like a beautiful mess, you know?
The Process
I started by gathering some images. I looked for old photos, textures, and anything that caught my eye. The key here is to have a bunch of stuff to work with, because it’s all about layering and combining.
Next, I opened up my photo editing software.I began by picking a base image. I used this as my background canvas.
- I started adding other images on top of the base.
- I played around with the size and position of each element.
- I experimented using different blend modes to see how the colors and textures interacted.
Honestly, a lot of it was just trial and error. I moved things around, deleted some stuff, added others. It’s like putting together a puzzle, except you don’t know what the final picture is supposed to look like.
Playing with Colors
Color is HUGE in Tyler Spangler’s work. So, I started messing with the color settings of each layer. I boosted the saturation, adjusted the contrast, and just generally went wild with it.
I also added some solid color layers and played with their opacity and blend modes. This helped to create some interesting color washes and effects.
The Final Touches
Once I was happy with the overall composition, I added some final touches. I sharpened some areas, blurred others, and added some noise to give it that vintage, textured feel.
It’s definitely not perfect, and it’s not exactly like Tyler Spangler’s work, but it was a fun experiment! I learned a lot about layering, color manipulation, and just letting go and being creative. I will keep practicing.
