So, the slammys 2024 just wrapped up, right? I figured I’d jot down how the whole thing went down from my end this year.
Getting Started
It all kicked off like usual. Saw the first announcements pop up online, maybe late last year or early this year, can’t quite recall the exact date. My first thought was, “Ah, here we go again.” Honestly, some years I’m really into it, others not so much. This year, I decided I’d try to pay a bit more attention.
I started by just casually browsing the categories they announced. Checked out who was getting nominated, or at least who the buzz was about early on. Didn’t really plan on doing anything major, just wanted to stay in the loop, you know? Went through the list, saw some familiar names, some new ones. Made a mental note of a few things I wanted to actually watch or check out before the voting or the main event happened.
Diving In (Sort Of)
Life gets busy, though. That’s always the kicker. I had every intention of watching all the nominated bits, reading up on everyone. But then, you know, work piles up, stuff needs fixing around the house. I did manage to catch some highlights here and there. Spent a few evenings scrolling through discussion threads, seeing what everyone else was worked up about. It’s always kinda fun to see the arguments break out over who deserves what.
- Tried to find time to watch the key moments people were talking about.
- Checked results from previous years just to get some context.
- Got involved in a couple of online polls just for laughs.
I didn’t submit anything myself this year. Thought about it briefly, had a half-baked idea, but then realised the effort involved was just too much for where my head was at. So, spectator mode it was. Pure and simple.
The Main Event & Aftermath
When the actual awards night (or stream, or whatever it officially was) came around, I planned to watch it live. Made some snacks, got comfy. Of course, the stream buffered a bit – classic. Missed a couple of acceptance speeches because of it, which was annoying.
Saw the winners announced. No huge surprises for me in most categories, felt like the front-runners mostly took it home. There were one or two results that made me raise an eyebrow, though. Thought, “Really? Them?” But hey, that’s how these things go. It’s all subjective anyway.
After it was all over, I scrolled through the reactions online. People complaining, people celebrating. The usual post-awards show noise. Read a few wrap-up articles the next day.
And that was pretty much it for my slammys 2024 experience. Didn’t change my life, didn’t really expect it to. Just another event I followed along with, caught the results, and now it’s done. On to the next thing, I guess. It was alright, passed the time.
